Sound insulation
Unwanted and loud, high-pitched noises are often considered to be unpleasant. Therefore, good sound insulation is important for the comfort and well-being of people in their living and working environment. Laws and regulations aim for a healthy indoor environment with good sound insulation.
Fit of door, frame and wall
It is not easy to stop sound, which is why just using a soundproof door is insufficient. The smallest noise leak has significant consequences. The door, frame and wall must fit together exactly. A good seal to eliminate any cracks around the door will reduce any noise leaks to a minimum. With EllenMatic dropseals it is possible to achieve an excellent performance, namely an Rw(C;Ctr) of more than 44(-1;-3) dB.
Which values are the most common?
Sound insulation can be expressed in various values. The following values are the most common:
Rw value: the sound reduction value of the door leaf in a sealed situation, as measured in the laboratory. This makes it possible to compare the performance of different door leafs.
Rw,p value: the sound reduction value of the (functional) door set in a mounted situation in a laboratory, as measured in the laboratory. This makes it possible to compare the performance of door sets (frame/seal/door leaf).
Rw,r value: the sound reduction value of the (functional) door set in a mounted situation in the field, as measured in the field. This makes it possible to compare the practical value of the mounted door set with the desired value.
